Our mission. The Constitution, kept on the record.

Arguments about the Constitution are loud and constant. The record underneath them is often hard to find. Constilumen puts it in one place, from 1787 to now, sourced line by line, so anyone can see what actually happened before deciding what it means.

What we hold to. In every entry.

The record comes first.

What the Court decided, what the people amended, what Congress and presidents enacted, and how the country wrote about it. Dates, votes and words, not interpretations.

Every figure links to its source.

Court opinions, statutes, archives and government history offices. If an entry cannot be traced to a primary or official source, it does not go in.

No side, in the record.

The timeline, cases and measures take no position. The same rules apply to every era and every party, and the editorial standards say exactly what those rules are.

Arguments are signed and kept apart.

Positions are analysis with a name on them. Each states its claim, rates how settled the evidence is, gives the strongest case against itself and lists its sources. None of it changes the record.

Free to read.

The record is open to everyone. Positions ask only for a free account, with no paywall.

What is in it today. And growing.

77 landmark cases

Each with its question, vote and holding, linked to the full opinion.

27 amendments

All of them, with when they were proposed and ratified and what led to them.

48 moments rights were tested

The laws, orders and impeachments that restricted or expanded them.

Hold us to it. Every rule is written down.

The methodology says what counts and where it comes from. The editorial standards say how we stay neutral and how corrections are made.
